A Millie Holloman Wedding: Megan & John

14 11 2008

Oh my gosh, this wedding seriously set my heart aflutter.  It gives me the warm fuzzies.  A little vintage, a lot of small-town feel.  Bold paisley tie, tossed pom-poms, tiny white church, a bride in her mother’s wedding gown.  I LOVE it.  And kudos to the ever-awesome Millie Holloman for once again blowing my mind.

A Melissa Jill Wedding: Allyson & Jason

11 10 2008

Ok, I’m a known hater of all things purple, but it was used in such a wonderful way in this wedding.  Dare I say, I think the purple could be one of my favorite accents to black and white now?!?

This bride’s adorable look, paired with the gorgeous reception details makes for an amazing wedding!  The photography was by Melissa Jill, and I especially love the reception detail shots.

You can see Melissa Jill’s entire post about this wedding on her blog.

A White House | Black Market Wedding

22 08 2008

So, I can’t help it… I have to do this.  I have to give my company some props!  I work for WH|BM, and right now is a great time to go in for wedding items!  Whether you are looking for a wedding dress, rehearsal dress, jewelry, or just need some inspiration, you should really stop in.

Here are just a few things that I’ve seen that would be perfect for weddings.

Outfits for a rehearsal dinner or other pre-wedding parties:

The LeJardin dress, paired with the reversible croc belt.

The Houndstooth Silk dress (that has pockets.  love a dress with pockets!)

Strapless Silk Blossom dress (one of my personal faves)

Two-Tone dress – absolutely perfect in person!  so so cute.

Accessories for the bride or bridesmaids (would also make good BM gifts):

The Midnight Melange bracelet.. words can not describe how gorgeous and sparkly this is in person.  Such a dramatic piece… I’m considering it for my own wedding, even though i don’t have a date or a dress.

The Sultry Breeze evening bag

Hand-tied glass pearl necklace

Absolutely gorgeous Atelier brooches.  I would love to have this on my bouquet, in my hair, or on a sash.

And on a related note, you can host a Girls’ Night Out party at a White House | Black Market store.  You can invite 10 guests to join you in discounted merchandise and refreshments.  This is a great idea for bachelorette parties or an alternative to a bridal luncheon.  Ask a WH|BM near you for all the details.

If you live in the Orlando area, please stop by the store at Mall at Millenia and see me!  I’ll give you a discount if you mention you read it on my blog!

Wow.  What can I say about this wedding?  Seersucker suits, eyelet dresses…. It is so full of personality and even though I don’t know the couple, I can tell their wedding design totally reflects them.

yet another stunning job by the geniuses at Our Labor of Love.

Our Own Wedding: Bridesmaids in White?

19 08 2008

I am starting to toy with color schemes and other wedding design ideas.  For over a year now, I’ve loved black, white, and green as a color scheme.  Then I made a post about those colors.  That post is by far the most-viewed on this blog, and that color palette is popping up all over the web.  I’m not sure that I want to have the same wedding design as so many other brides.  Then again, if I love it so much, does it really matter?

Anyway, one of the other color schemes I’m considering is white.  Yep, just shades of white.  Maybe with a few hints of beige and gold.  I haven’t created an inspiration board for this scheme yet.  I’m planning a future mega-post, with a few different inspiration boards, to see my choices side-by-side.

Instead, I’m bringing to the blog the bridesmaids’ look.  I love the look of whites, especially when each bridesmaid chooses her own dress, of any style.  Evidence that this looks beautiful, courtesy of Jasmine Star:

Upon seeing this photo, I headed to my go-to source for dresses, Nordstrom, then to a great shoe shop, Zappos, to create this possible bridal party look.

It would be so nice and easy to tell my bridesmaids to find a white dress and a neutral shoe, and leave it at that.  I definitely plan on making things easy for my bridesmaids.  This can be done with any color really.  It is done a lot with black, and I’ve seen images all over the web with all sorts of different bridal party looks.  There really are no rules anymore, and I’m loving it!

A Lisa Lefkowitz Wedding: Lisa & Nick

10 08 2008

I ran across this lovely wedding on one of my favorite blogs, snippet & ink. This is definitely my kind of wedding!  Simple, modern, and lots of GREEN!  I love the non-bridesmaid dresses, the spider mums, and the bride’s look.

This wedding was shot by Lisa Lefkowitz, and I’m telling you now, if you haven’t seen her work, you’re missing out.  Check her out.

T-Shirt Save-the-Dates

23 07 2008

The always awesome photographer Justine Ungaro is planning what is going to be a really amazing wedding.  I read her wedding blog religiously, and was so happy to find yesterday that she finally graced the web with a new post.  She posted her completed Save-the-Dates, and they are so cool.

If you suggested to me that I make t-shirts as part of my STDs, I would have thought you were nuts.  I would have thought, “who would want to wear a t-shirt with our names and wedding date emblazoned on it?”  But this shirt, fashioned after the famous CBGB shirt, is something I think people will actually wear!  I love it!

A Michael Norwood Wedding: Jill & Harry

17 07 2008

Wow.  I mean, really.  I don’t usually get excited about orange weddings, but this is amazing.  It really is.  This wedding uses orange and green in a wonderful way.  Most outstanding is the groomstyle!  I love it.  I just love everything about these photos, as captured by Michael Norwood.  I just discovered him, and wow, is he amazing!

Do yourself a favor and check out the rest of this refreshing wedding!

[wedding] Things I Love

16 07 2008
  1. Roses in ice cubes.  Mostly meant for prettiness, I love this idea!  Chill the champagne in a bucket full of rosy ice cubes.  You could do this with any flower, of course.  Maybe even seashells, berries, acorns, or some other season-appropriate item.  Instructions on how to freeze spray roses inside of ice cubes found here.
Thanks to Jonathan Fong Style for the inspiration!
2.  Alternatives to quilt guestbook.  When I used to frequent the knot in planning a different wedding, quilt guestbooks were pretty popular.  A table would be set up at the reception with squares of fabric and special pens.  Guests would decorate the squares, which would later be sewn into a quilt by a friend or family member.  I always liked the sentiment, couldn’t see myself using the quilt for fear of messing it up, or hanging it on the wall.  Enter this idea, from one of Lara Swanson‘s brides.  Bride Rebecca’s mother sewed together pieces of fabric that were sent out to guests prior to the wedding.  It was used as a chuppah for the ceremony.  I think this is wonderful!  I’d love to hear similar ideas you may have.
This wedding had lots of great details, and you should certainly check out all of it.
3.  Rainbow weddings!  If you had told me a few months ago that a rainbow wedding would be awesome, I would have absolutely CRINGED.  But I mean, just LOOK….
And in case you’re wondering like my fiance was, those guys are not wearing some sort of capri…. they have their pants pulled up for the photo op!  Check out this wedding, as photographed by Lauren Wright.

Fresh use of damask!

4 07 2008

Okay, so I have to admit, I got sick of seeing damask.  Since making an inspiration board featuring damask when I first started my blog, I’ve noticed the pattern popping up on every wedding planning blog and website there is.

Then this beautiful wedding came across my feeder.  Black and white damask was used sparingly, mixed with other patterns and bold lime and turquoise.

LOVE IT!
